JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The role of an advisor is a varied and stimulating assignment where you have great opportunities to plan your own work situation. Our special educational support is directed at the teaching, principal, and governing body levels, and we are now looking for someone with education and experience in the field who wants the opportunity to further develop at a national level. Your primary responsibilities will be in the field of advisory support, where you provide assistance and answer special educational questions that come from professionals and governing bodies within the country's education system. The work is predominantly carried out digitally, but also includes some physical meetings. Travel may be required in the role. In addition to special educational advice, the agency offers competence-enhancing initiatives within the framework of SPSM's continuing education. As an advisor, you will also be responsible for various professional development initiatives in the form of courses, webinars, and study packages based on scientific principles. You may also have the opportunity to represent the agency in substantive issues and collaborate with external actors and interest organizations to develop and create equitable education for students within the agency's target groups. You will have access to a wide network of various competencies within the special educational field, and in some assignments and tasks, you will work closely with colleagues from other units and different parts of the country.

SPSM and the Advisory Department are engaged in ongoing improvement work, where we collectively develop our methods and offerings to achieve more accessible and equitable support.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A degree in special education or special teaching.
  • Experience working as a special educator or special teacher within the education system, including supervisory tasks.
  • Experience in conducting practice-oriented consultative work with professionals regarding the creation of accessible and health-promoting education.
  • Experience working with school development at a strategic governing body level.
  • Good language skills in Swedish, both spoken and written.
  • Good IT skills.

It is advantageous if you have:

  • Further education after the special education degree in the field of educational science.
  • Experience in leadership with a process-oriented approach.
  • Experience working with child and student health at a strategic governing body level.
  • Experience working with complex special educational issues.
  • Experience leading improvement work and/or collegial learning within the special educational field.
  • Specialization in pedagogical consequences within any of these disability areas:
    • Mathematics difficulties.
    • Visual impairment.
  • Knowledge of alternative communication methods.
  • Experience working in digital environments.

As a person, you have a strong sense of responsibility and good initiative. You enjoy taking on new tasks and can easily adapt to current conditions and needs.

You are quality-conscious and analytical and have the ability to handle complex issues at different levels in the organization. You have a salutogenic approach and prefer to work in a promoting and preventive manner. You have a structured way of working and a good ability to drive work forward both independently and collaboratively.

The work requires strong collaboration skills. Therefore, you are unpretentious and confident in communicating and building good relationships. You have a good ability to work dialogically in a mutually discovering manner. You are attentive and can convey information constructively in advisory situations. In the selection process, we place great emphasis on personal qualities.

In addition, we also consider your last five years of work experience and competence development that we assess as relevant for the position.

OTHER

A six-month probationary period applies. A criminal record extract must be presented before employment. In the event of a societal crisis, you may be directed to work between the agency's operational areas based on your placement location.
